Summer is almost over, but I am still loving this fun and preppy Newport Stripes note card and calling card set from our personal stationery collection. Stripes and anchors never go out of season … just bring on the foul weather gear!
Aquamarines, blues and greens are my very favorite colors, especially when paired with cool gray and whites. Perfect summer color palette! Palette inspired by vintage porch chairs outside Butcher and Bee restaurant in Charleston.

Hello, August. Wait … how is it August already? Back to school?!? Already?!!!? John’s BIG birthday?!? Already?!?? What happened to July? Heck, what happened to June? Wish I could stop the clock and hit re-do on summer. It’s hard to think of anything I like better than a lazy summer day at the beach. Good thing summer stretches into fall here in South Carolina … I plan on packing in as many beach days as possible. I even bought a fresh bottle of sunscreen yesterday.

The other day my son and I had a summer snack of local South Carolina peaches and nectarines still warm from the sun, with homemade biscuits fresh from the oven. Yummy.
I couldn’t help but to snap a picture. The pretty combo of the sun faded orange, turquoise and green colors together made me smile.

Hello friends. I Hope you are enjoying yourself this long holiday weekend. Take some time to relax, okay? I’m trying to follow my own advice and am planning an afternoon at the beach with friends Sunday, and brunch by the pool on Labor Day.

The rich, saturated color palette here reminds me that summer’s end is around the corner. There is something overripe and sticky hot sweet about this photo. Maybe it’s just that the deep forest, white and freesia yellows remind me of magnolia blossoms and sticky hot Charleston summers. My mom snapped the photo a few weeks ago at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park.

Why did nobody tell me how amazing Hawaiian shave ice is before? YUMMY. I had a chance to try it for the first time a few weeks ago at the Gravy co-working event Lori hosted at her lovely Paper & Thread studio (photos coming soon of her super adorable workspace). It was about a zillion times yummier than any other shaved ice treat I’ve had before. I am so thankful to the Gravy team for introducing me to Kam Shave Ice. I am planning a trip to Oceanside Pier so I can have more soon. See you there!

It’s really hard to believe it’s August already. The summer is flying by! There are quite a few summer activities that I haven’t quite gotten to yet:
— A hike along the beach
— A swim in the Pacific
— A summer matinee movie date with my son (including popcorn for lunch)
— A run through the sprinklers
— A petanque tournament with my family

We’re a little more than a week into July and it’s really starting to feel like summer. We have the luxury of a pool at our place, and I’m taking full advantage this year. I even picked up a pair of floats with drinkholders and attached squirt guns, for some fierce battles.
Our apricot trees are super bountiful this year, and the Mémé’s have taken to making lots and lots of jellies and jams. They keep asking me to make them some fancy labels … I think St. Lorie may be the perfect font. It reminds me a bit of French schoolgirl handwriting.
How is it June already? I’m so looking forward to visits with friends, the last day of school for my son, trips to the fair, walks on the beach, fresh orange juice cocktails by the pool. How do you plan to kick off summer?
