Silver and Gold: Serve in Style

Silver and Gold serving trays via DelphineThe holidays are over—phew!— but that doesn’t mean you can’t still eat in style. Put a little plate of cheese, a bowl of fruit, a few crackers, and a candle on a tray (plus a glass bottle of red wine, bien sûr) and voila: a pretty setting for one (or two). Perfect for a cozy evening on the couch, as you recover from a whirlwind season. Here are some of my very favorite serving trays, in luxe silver and gold — timeless and chic, non?

My Dreamy Workspace

ghost chair silver desk polaroidThe studio is in the midst of a big cleanup/reorganization. It’s in the “it’s going to look worse before it gets better” stage. It is so incredibly messy in there that I had to move my computer to a new workspace just to be able to think. Can you work in a messy office? I absolutely cannot do it. The “noise” of the mess makes my brain hurt … and it’s difficult to design without a functioning brain! This is my temporary workspace. I borrowed a Ghost chair from Mom. I love it except for the fact that I can’t cross my legs into my lap — Mom told me if I scratch the chair I’m toast!

Papercut Sterling Silver Jewelry by Emma van Leest for Polli

I’m in awe of the delicate detail in these pieces of jewelry. Melbourne paper cutting artist, Emma van Leest, drew inspiration from explorer’s dreams of paradise. Aussie jeweler Polli tanslated the paper cut art into fantastic stainless steel jewelry. I like the idea of wearing a fantasy around your neck: when navigating real life is a little rough, touch your necklace and dream of what could be.

color palette: aubergine dream

happy new year

christmas wrapping paper

I was making a list of things I’d like to print this year, and holiday wrapping paper is near the top of the list (after another letterpress calendar). Last fall I designed this one for Isabella Smith and it was sold in Europe and Scandinavia through her stores/catalog/website.

sweet dreams

I’d love this Brocade bed frame for our guest room/boudoir/closet room. After living in our house for 4 years it is finally time to start “decorating.” Our bedroom doesn’t have a closet (long story), so we converted the guest room into a “closet room.” It works for us, but when guests come they have to sleep amidst clothes racks on my childhood twin bed. First, we need to build armoires to hide all our clothes … but next step will be a darling bed like this.
