Newport Stripes Anchor Note Cards | Haute off the Press

Newport Yellow Stripes Red Stripes Anchor Personal Stationery Notecard by DelphineSummer is almost over, but I am still loving this fun and preppy Newport Stripes note card and calling card set from our personal stationery collection. Stripes and anchors never go out of season … just bring on the foul weather gear!

Wonderland Wedding Invitations featured in The Knot Fall-Winter 2011

The Knot Fall Winter 2011 magazinewonderland wedding invitation featured in The Knot Fall 2011 Winter 2011Many thanks to The Knot Southern California for featuring our Wonderland wedding invitation in their fall/winter 2011 issue!

We love the classic navy blue and kelly green color combination that the editors chose for the spread. It really shows off how nice dark colors look as backgrounds for invitations.

Our Wonderland wedding invitation design is available flat printed (better for flooding the background with color) or letterpress.

sullivan’s island wedding invitation

Sullivan’s Island is one of my favorite floral wedding invitation designs. It’s not one of our most popular, but I still love it. I was inspired by the sweet butterflies and pretty wild flowers along the sand dunes. Every time someone orders it I am reminded of walks along the beach on the South Carolina coast, where I consider home.

from the prop closet

Another behind the scenes peek at a photo shoot. This one uses one of my favorite props: rolls of stamps. I have always been fascinated by state flags and I just adore these stamps.

wish list: summer showers

One of the things I miss the most about living in the South is hot summer showers. The kind that come on quick in the late afternoon. Oh, how I used to love walking on the beach in the rain. Of course in South Carolina it was way too hot to wear wellies in the summer (I was usually barefoot or in Kino sandals). It rains so rarely here in Southern California that I don’t even own a functional umbrella anymore. While all the goodies shown above are on my wish list, mostly I just wish for a simple walk in the warm summer rain. I don’t think I’m cut out for this dry weather.

Shown above: 1. Carnival umbrella from Fishseddy 2. Sailor knot rope necklace by The Vamoose 3. Chic navy tank from Madewell 4. Reversible yellow tote (the other side is yellow/white stripes … LOVE) from LandsEnd (!really!) 5. Navy wellie boots also from LandsEnd

I’ve been so inspired by this nautical thing lately that I designed a new personal stationery design called Newport Stripes. It’s live now on the site in our personal stationery section. You can switch out the anchor for another motif (like a star or a birdie), and change the stripes, colors, fonts, etc etc etc.

Here’s the same design in a different color palette — printed for my bff’s daughter’s very first trip to overnight camp:

posh engagement party

I saw this dress on sale on Leifsdotter and I immediatly envisioned it as the perfect dress for a posh engagement party. Someplace with a gorgeous view. Perhaps the Market Pavillion rooftop bar in Charleston, SC? I’d pair it with a bottle of Taittinger champagne.

Images: dress from Leifsdotter; Tom Ford sunglasses from Nordstrom; navy blue leather clutch by Sidneyann on Etsy; Badgley Mischka heels from Piperlime; Lace engagement invitation by Delphine.

graphic art: eleanor

How cute are these birdie mugs by Eleanor? I had the great pleasure of meeting her last month at the National Stationery Show, and was totally blown away by her cute booth and her gorgeous illustrations. Of course I forgot my camera the day I walked the show, so I have no pictures. Bummer! But check out Eleanor‘s work on her Push Me Pull You site. She’s going to be speaking at the HOW conference this weekend and I so wish I could be there.

haute off the press: personal stationery

Do you make New Year’s Resolutions? I don’t … but if I did one of mine would be to be better about staying in touch and keeping up with thank you notes. I know, I know, I’m SURROUNDED by cute stationery but still I can’t get it together to send out a thank you note in a timely fashion. The card design of ours that I use most is the “Stinky” one since I’m always so late! Here’s a dirty little secret: I recently designed an evite for my son’s birthday party because I didn’t have time to mail out an invitation. For shame!

Having personal stationery, like this sample shown above that some clients ordered of our San Francisco Tile design, makes it easier to tackle the “thank you note” section on your to do list.

things i heart, but first purchased because of the packaging

I’m not proud of it, but I admit that I *sometimes* purchase a new product solely because of the packaging. I bought a bottle of St. Germain soon after the product launched last year because I was intrigued by their print advertising and brilliant graphic design (check out their website to see what I mean). When I picked up the bottle in person I was sold … it’s heavy and gorgeous, and it reminds me of the Guerlain Shalimar perfume my grandmother Delphine wears. I do remember thinking, well, if the liquor is horrid I can use the bottle in my bathroom for bath salts.

The elderflower liquor is my new favorite. I like it best as a “flavor shot” in plain club soda in a tall glass with ice. It’s also excellent mixed with champagne, and is a great after dinner drink served straight up. Plus it looks pretty on the table.

sketchbook peek: metallics & navy

Here’s a peek at my sketchbook. Earlier this summer I was working through an obsession with all things navy and ultramarine blue–paired with distressed, vintage looking dull metallics. These colors and motifs are finding their way into the new collections we’re working on for 2009!

new from charleston collection: sullivan

sullivan design, new from delphine‘s charleston collection

“Sullivan,” one of the new designs from our upcoming Charleston Collection, is named after Sullivan’s Island, the “next door island” to where I grew up (Isle of Palms, South Carolina). I chose the deep marine blue ink because it reminds me of summer nights on the island, and the bright crocus ink is a nod to my mom’s favorite color circa 1983!
