i carry your heart with me
I love this poem by e.e. cummings. It always reminds me of my wedding day — hearing my friend Eden read it during our ceremony is one of my all time favorite memories. Happy Valentine’s Day, lovies! xo – E.

Love this quote from Charles Eames; and I loved watching this film about Charles and Ray Eames.
The entire Delphine studio is crazy excited for the new Great Gatsby film. It’s Brelyn’s favorite book, and one of mine, too. I just re read it, and now I see optometrist signs everywhere.
Needless to say, in anticipation of the movie we’re getting serious 1920s fever and are designing up a whole slew of 20s themed wedding invitations. One of the fonts we’re using a bunch is Copasetic. The Art Deco style works great for our 20s style invitations. The font is free, by the way. You’re welcome ; )

One of the many joys of being back in the South is access to one of my favorite snacks: boiled peanuts. Pair it with a cane sugar Coke and I’m a very happy girl. I snapped this pic at Butcher & Bee the other day because I just loved the traditional color palette: coca cola red, peanut brown, a bit of green: an old school classic color palette that would be a great jumping off point for planning a fall party.
Today our UPS delivery guy was wearing a hoodie parka with his shorts … I think it’s a sure sign that it is, indeed, Fall here in Charleston. Now that it’s Fall, the next logical thing on the mighty to do list is to think of a really clever Halloween costume.
Our son is thinking about being a robot this year, and I’m trying to convince John to be a Canadian (long story), but so far we haven’t decided on anything yet. If you have any great ideas please let me know.
Pictured above, some of my favorite Halloween costume ideas: The Kid from UP, Bowl of Spaghetti, Bandit Family.

Cyclone, a Hoefler & Frere-Jones masterpiece, makes me happy. It’s trendy, I won’t deny it, but also a classic inline font. Super versatile, it’s become one of my favorites.
I’m a huge French Paper Co. fan, and not just ’cause it has “French” in the name. I’ve used their stock for many a Delphine letterpress card collection. Learn more about this super cool American company by visiting their delicious new website.
I’m in love with the classic yet oh so pretty new Madelinette font (by Crystal Kluge & Stuart Sandler). Wouldn’t it be perfect for typesetting a cook book or a menu? It’s lovely, feminine, and slightly fancy, while being totally legible.
I love this hand lettered sign from the local laundromat. The turquoise, black, yellow and red color palette is pretty retro cool, too, don’t you think?
While on vacation last Sunday I skipped breakfast and sought out the local Target to snag this Jason Wu for Target striped dress. I just love the unusual color combination of charcoal, mustard and blush. It’s pretty short on me, so I may have to use it as a Fall dress with tights, but I still love it. Right now it’s hanging on the outside door of my closet so I can admire the colors every time I pass by it.

I’ve been so busy at the studio that I hardly noticed the entire Fall season swoosh by in a flash. We don’t have a television in our bedroom, so I watch a lot of HBOgo. I’m so bummed that the Bored to Death season is over already! Sidenote: I recently met a man who is a dead ringer for Ray’s character. True story … during an important, albeit impromptu, meeting he wandered away from the group to stretch. Someone asked him what he was doing stretching during an important meeting and he said, “I’m not stretching, I’m practicing my gay throw. If I just move your hand like this I can look gay, but I have to practice.” Ummmmm, no words.
Inspired by Jonathan on Bored to Death, here are some goodies my alter-ego would love: No. 1 Versace for H&M leather studded jacket No. 2 Duotone glasses from Warby Parker No. 3 Shiny & bright orange rain boots from Cole Haan No. 4 Nearly neon ring from Pomeletto No. 5 Skinny cords with zippers à la 1985 from Anthropologie No. 6 Shiny green-blue “henley regatta” Butter nail polish No. 7 A faux leopard trapper hat (J. Crew) to keep my ears warm.
Today is Veteran’s Day. Thank you to all the men and women who have sacrificed for our country! And special props to all the parents, spouses & children who stay behind while their loved ones serve.
In our household there are two vets. My dad was in the Coast Guard during Vietnam era, and John was a Marine in the late 1990s. I asked both of them what they think the best way to honor veterans is, and they had a few suggestions. They both immediately thought of those currently serving, not just vets.
1. Support the Wounded Warrior Project, which aids injured service members. Please consider a donation.
2. The next time you’re doing errands pick up a few extra things to send to Any Marine. A package of socks, a fun magazine, some snacks, ziplock bags and some baby wipes … keep a box in your pantry and ship it off when it gets filled.
3. Clean out your closet and donate to the AmVets thrift stores.
4. Write a veteran a note to thank them for their service.
Oh, and PS, Happy Birthday, Marines!
