haute off the press: chrysanthemums in aubergine

The leading color trend for 2010 wedding invitations here at the Delphine studio was aubergine purple. About half of the invitation orders we processed this year used some shade of purple. In design trends, our CHRYSANTHEMUMS design was one of the most popular designs this year. Normally I’m not much of a purple-lover, but I really do love the way this aubergine and crocus Chrysanthemums wedding invitation turned out.

week in review

This week flew by, didn’t it? We had a little party at our son’s school, which really made me realize how close the holidays are!

In case you missed it, here’s what happened on the blog this week:

• We celebrated Mémé Delphine’s birthday.

• We started a massive studio cleanup and listed some treasures on Ebay. (Yes, we’ll have a warehouse sale soon!)

• An in-depth behind the scenes peek at what goes into a massive photo shoot at Delphine, as well as final photos from our recent 2011 desk calendar photo shoot.

• Spotlight on artist Kevin Gilmore’s paintings, which I happened upon in a Brooklyn wine shop.

• An update on our son’s Big Boy Bedroom renovation.

• New font discovery/new to my wish list: ambicase modern.

week in review

Finally it felt a little like Fall this past week. I broke out the Marshmallow Fluff, and put it in my coffee, which was surprisingly yummy! This weekend I’ll be beginning a major clean out of the studio. I have SO many magazines, props and goodies that are collecting dust. I’d love to make room for more actual work space, so look out for some studio goodies to go on sale soon!

week in review

This photo pretty much sums up the week … hammering away. What will you be doing this weekend? I’ll be finishing up some designs for a series of gift bags (a collaboration with another stationer … details to come soon), planning for a big November beach photo shoot with my friends Adrianne Smith Floral Design and Bixby & Ball, going over the details of a business launch with a friend, reviewing tons and tons of intern files, uploading a portfolio to another new business launching next week (y’all are going to LOVE it), going to Brand You seminar, touring a private school (looking for somewhere new to send our little star student), and finally finishing (hopefully) the makeover in our son’s bedroom. Sleep doesn’t seem to be in the plans. Ugh.

happy new year

Happy New Year, everyone! Many many thanks for reading my little blog! I am truly thankful for your support, warm wishes and sweet comments. I have some fun things planned for 2010, but I must admit that due to a bad cold over the holidays I am quite behind … but stay tuned and you’ll see some nice improvements to the blog over the next month! color palette: pantone’s spring 2010 report

Pink Champagne is my favorite color from Pantone’s Spring 2010 report. Each fashion week, the peeps at Pantone head to the shows to report back on what they see as the color trends for the upcoming season. (Hello, fun job!) I think they’re right on, here, with the coral, pink champagne and light brown. I think the other colors are a little too bright … I had envisioned turquoise, but paler, like water, and yellow, but lighter like lemon chiffon.But what do I know? I sit in my studio all day …
