i carry your heart with me
I love this poem by e.e. cummings. It always reminds me of my wedding day — hearing my friend Eden read it during our ceremony is one of my all time favorite memories. Happy Valentine’s Day, lovies! xo – E.

Whoa. Hello, 2013!!! Wishing all of you a fabulous New Year! It’s going to be awesome!!!
Oh, and yes, that is our new 2013 desk calendar. It’s a super limited edition (fewer than 100 were printed, and we have about 30 left). They are the same size as always (4.25in x 5.5in), so if you have an easel from years past it will fit perfectly. Most pages are letterpressed, a few are flat printed. They are $22 (easel not included). If you’d like to order one please shoot an email over to erika at delphinepress dot com.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! Thanks so much for reading this little blog, for all your support, and for being all around awesome. Just a quick note to let you know we’re signing off to get ready for our Delphine studio bash, then we’re closing doors here at the studio for the rest of the year (woot!!!).
But rest assured, we’ll be working over the break (from the comfort of our couches, in our fuzzy slippers + jammies) on some super exciting new releases for the new year, so be sure to check back with us in January for some big news and some awesome new designs.
Wishing all of you a fabulous holiday, full of love and laughter. xoxo, Erika, John and the Delphine team

Yay yay yay!!!! My Delphine holiday photo card collection for Cardstore is live. I had a lot of fun designing for Christmas last summer (one day I even busted out the flannel jammies, hot cocoa and watched Elf to get in the spirit). I am so thrilled to see all my designs on the brand spanking new & improved Cardstore. Please hop over there and check it out and let me know what you think. Do you have a favorite? Can you guess which one I’m sending out this year?
I think Christmas shopping is super stressful. I REALLY don’t like crowds — the noise gives me migraines and all the people who shop with runny noses and hacking coughs make me crazy. But I do really love wrapping gifts. I think it’s one of my favorite parts of the whole holiday season. Finding the right wrap and the right ribbon, with the oh so perfect embellishment is way more fun than shopping for the actual gift, in my opinion.
I’ve rounded up some of my favorite trimmings for a pretty package: 1. Knit owl, fox and bear ornaments 2. Silver deer, penguin and bear ornaments 3. Silver and Gold Washi tape 4. Faux wreath — a perfect canvas 5. Beautiful velvet ribbon 6. Brown baker’s twine 7. Winter scene wrapping paper 8. Woody with Christmas tree ornament 9. Bottle brush trees 10. Owl on Branch Christmas ornaments 11. Mirrored letter ornaments

Christmas shopping for the little ones is always the most fun! I love buying stuff for kids — brings out the kiddo in me, I guess. Here are some of my favorite holiday gifts for children:
1. Thumbprint Masterpieces 2. Lion Rucksack 3. Bird-o The Bird Stuffed Animal 4. Tattly Monster Tattoos 5. Play Canopy 6. Chalkboard Top Desk 7. Nerf Gun 8. Owl Slippers 9. Animal Faces Masks 10. Comic Book Kit 11. Bambi doll 12. Fox Puzzle
Pin ItI think the hardest people to shop for on my holiday shopping list, hands down, are the guys. So for my first gift guide of the season I started with the toughest: Gifts for the Men in your life. I’ll admit there are a few things on this list I wouldn’t mind for myself ; )
1. iPhone case // 2. Timex watch // 3. Need Supply Duffle bag // 4. Skeletool // 5. bull catchall tray // 6. Wood Sunglasses // 7. Headphones // 8. Stanley thermos

For our first Halloween in Charleston, we decided to dress up as a Cat Burglar family. Mommy Cat + Daddy Burglar = Baby Cat Burglar! We had a blast walking around the neighborhood, but really were missing our dear friends from SoCal. It’s just not the same without y’all!!
Some of the Delphine crew got the Halloween spirit going earlier in the day. Lytle was a hoarder, and Brelyn was a gangster. Trish was all smiles in her jack-o-lantern outfit. Jeff was out sick: booooo (feel better soon, dude). Sarah took the photo since she was the only one sans costume.
I just cannot get enough of these cute little munchkins dressed up for Halloween. It’s Jessica Davis‘ favorite holiday of the year, and it really shows in her photos. This year I was chatting with her about Alexander’s costume idea, and she convinced me to make costumes for John and me, too. So I’m going to blame her for my lack of sleep as I stay up all night tonight sewing and gluing.

Today our UPS delivery guy was wearing a hoodie parka with his shorts … I think it’s a sure sign that it is, indeed, Fall here in Charleston. Now that it’s Fall, the next logical thing on the mighty to do list is to think of a really clever Halloween costume.
Our son is thinking about being a robot this year, and I’m trying to convince John to be a Canadian (long story), but so far we haven’t decided on anything yet. If you have any great ideas please let me know.
Pictured above, some of my favorite Halloween costume ideas: The Kid from UP, Bowl of Spaghetti, Bandit Family.

One of my earliest memories is of crafting Valentine’s Day cards with my friend after school. Normally I’m not much of a DIY girl … I have neither the time nor patience for crafts … but for Valentine’s Day I make an exception. I just love getting out all the paper doilies, construction paper, paste and colored pencils to hand craft Valentine’s Day cards for my family.
Just a sneak peek at some of the graphic elements and fonts used in the Classiest Christmas Card on Earth. That’s what I’m calling it, anyway. The snippits above are taken from the final card.
Faux Vaurnet shades, jingle balls, and drugstore Egg Nog … just a few of the props I picked up for the shoot.
Rudolph, post shoot. He got a lot of lovin’.
I had so much fun styling Jessica Davis‘s holiday party dessert bar. She thought I was crazy when I asked her to empty out her hutch so I could use it for displaying the dessert goodies (usually it’s full of baby blankets and other kids photography photo shoot props).
The candy bar had a pale blue, white and silver theme. Of course there aren’t too many foods out there that are blue, so most everything was white. We made an exception to the color palette rule for chocolate! I used lots of white candy dishes, bowls and plates to create different heights and layers. Then I threw in some turquoise, white and silver Christmas ornaments and glittery props. Everything shown is from Jessica, her fiancé, or my personal collection.
The party was a great success. Jessica raised well over $1,000 for OMO CHILD, and I am so happy to say that the raffle prizes were a hit. My son won the iPad! He hasn’t put it down since!
