wish list: vintage office supplies

I have a soft spot for vintage office supplies. Truth be told, they need not even be vintage for me to love them. There is a reason why I do my office supply shopping online: so I don’t buy up the entire Staples store!

I found all three of these “must haves” for my studio on Etsy. The vintage green clip board would look awesome hanging on the wall in my studio with the day’s “to do” items listed. The vintage rubber stamp caddy would be nice to have, too. Right now all my stamps are piled in a giant jar, which is pretty inconvenient (J: this would improve studio efficiency AND look cool!).

Is it just me, or do these vintage paper clips look a little dangerous? I am constantly running out of paper clips (I use them more than staples because my pressman likes to spread proofs out, not have them stuck together). So I neeeeed these, right?

Photos from each Etsy shop. Clip board: Ephemera and More; Stamp holder: Vintage Rerun; Vintage paper clips: DotDotDotShop.

pretty neat

I just adore this darling tiered display stand made from vintage china. Of course it would be great for a tea party or dessert buffet, but I can also see it being used everyday: pile jewelry on it for display (and easy access) on your vanity, or pile darling macaron soaps on it for a sweet look in the guest bath. Just be sure to warn your guests not the eat the soap …

Display Stand by OrangeandBlossom; Macaron soap by KcSoapsnMore. Both found on Etsy.

wishing you a weekend full of pancakes

painting by Dear Weekend

Good morning, darling readers. It’s Friday already, can you believe it? This week was full of highs: I met a ton of fellow designerds at the North County Graphic Design Meetup; secured a new project with one of my favorite clients; and made time to lunch with a dear friend, to name a few. Unfortunately there were a couple of real lows, which I won’t go in to other than to mention that I had to review my old law books from Journalism school days to brush up on libel and slander. Ugh. I’m shaking it off. Don’t worry.

I have to say, though, that one of the best parts of my week was to receive an email from an old client, Elisabeth Klos. One of the many joys of working with brides is meeting brides! Last year I had the pleasure of working with Elisabeth on her wedding invitations.  She told me then that she was interested in exploring her creative side. She told me she was a painter at heart (she was working in sales at the time, if I remember correctly), and was positively itching to get back to it. Of course I encouraged her whole heartedly to pursue her passion. I’m so happy to see that she has followed through and is now painting full time! The wonderful pancake painting above, by Elisabeth Klos, is sold in her brand new Etsy shop, Dear Weekend. I hope you’ll visit her shop when you have a moment. You can read more about her technique in the shop (she incorporates collage … pieces of ingredient packaging peek through the paint).

Enjoy the weekend. Wishing you a lazy couple of days full of love, laughter and pancake breakfasts with your families and friends!

wish list: e’s poster

I don’t care if it’s slightly narcissistic … j’adore (and I’d love to own) this “E” letterpress poster in my studio! French Press makes lots of other letter posters (hand-set wood type letterpressed on their Vandercook, no less), but I humbly submit that the “E” is the best letter in the alphabet. Check out their sweet ETSY shop.

wish list: taurus pendant

Since I didn’t get a single thing off my Christmas wish list this past year, perhaps I’ll have better luck with my birthday wishes? Or maybe I’ll take matters into my own hands and get this cool vintage Taurus pendant for myself. I found it here at the 19Moons shop on Etsy. Love it!!! Want it!!! … sigh.

holiday craftiness

december craftiness

So far this month I have made turkey pot pie with leftover Thanksgiving turkey, glittered holiday ornaments, braved the Target toy aisles with my almost-five-year-old’s list in hand, packaged holiday goodies for the Etsy shop, wrapped and shipped gifts, sent holiday cards, made homemade bath scrubs, and, just yesterday, baked cookies with girlfriends.

delphine on ETSY

delphine is now on Etsy! That’s right … we finally got a few free hours to get our act together and post some items in an Etsy shop. Our delphinepress.com shop will always be the best place for our standard letterpress items, but check out www.delphinestudio.etsy.com for more limited edition and one-of-a-kind items.

Why an Etsy shop? Sometimes when we print a job for a client and there is a little room left on the press sheet, we’ll sneak a fun project on there for ourselves. It’s a great way to test out new inks, new fonts, run experiments, and, well, just play a little. We’ll post our best results on Etsy so you can take home a little piece of joy from the studio! Take a look and let us know what you think!

beautiful day

First of all, forgive me for not posting this past week+. I have been a little under the weather.

Emily of Orange Beautiful emailed me her LATTICE Line lookbook and I was blown away by the photography (and the card designs, too!). Congrats, Emily, on a brilliant product line. Not only are the patterns ORIGINAL (yay!), but the custom packaging is beyond amazing. I especially love the “warm” and “cool” stamps. You can purchase her cards at her Etsy shop here. Can’t wait to see what she is dreaming up for the next stationery show!
