Peaceful Weekend Wishes

Johns Island South Carolina Peaceful Weekend at the Beach or Salt Marsh via DelphineIt’s starting to feel a teensy bit like Fall here in Charleston, so I’m hoping to make it out to the beach one last time before the chill settles in. Wishing all of you a peaceful weekend. Cheers!

Delphine Studio in Charleston South Carolina by Erika Firm I’m soooo happy to report that we FINALLY have a meeting space here at our new downtown Charleston, SC digs. We found a vintage drafting table to serve as a conference area … and, drumroll … stools to sit upon! Want to come for a studio tour, check out wedding invitations, talk about graphic design projects? Drop in any time!

Accelerate Through the Turn

Accelerate Through the Turn Advice from Donald Firm via DelphineAs usual, my plate is overflowing with projects, and some pretty big changes are in the works. In effort to keep it all together, I’m trying to remember this advice my dad (Don Firm) gave me when he was teaching me to drive: accelerate through the turn.

Giovanni’s Lobster Pâté | Nice Package

lobster pate can packaging via delphineI’ve never had lobster pâté, but Giovanni’s packaging sure makes it tempting to try. This packaging caught my eye with its vintage style script and serif typeface pairing … and certainly its retro color palette with that beautiful powder blue and lobster red.

Pickle Chips | a Delicious Green Color Palette

green and yellow pickle chips color palette via delphineI picked these Lays dill pickle chips up at the Coming Street corner store the other day. The flavor intrigued me (and I’m happy to report they are delicious). Also noticed that the colors on the package are my favorites … lime greens and yellows. Then I noticed that the colors match my Orla Kiely wallet perfectly. I guess I’m pretty predictable when it comes to favorite color palettes.

Kari Pro | Font Geek

font love kari pro script via delphineThis script from Neil Summerour’s Positype foundry is definitely an underrated beauty. Kari Pro is an elegant, yet casual font with tons of unique ligatures and characters. Kari would be perfect for an informal event invitation, like a backyard camping party. Is anyone else hungry for s’mores now?

Pirates in the Boys’ Room

Pirate Fabric Vinyl Wall Decals by Love Mae via DelphineAhoy, mateys! How stinkin’ cute are these pirate ship fabric wall decals by Love Mae? Just think of the stories you could make up at bedtime about these guys. That octopus looks mighty sneaky. I wonder if he knows it’s International Talk Like A Pirate Daytoday??

vintage car and vintage robot vinyl fabric wall decals by Love Mae via DelphineWe’re not up for painting our son’s room this year, but his new room could certainly use some color and fun. I think these retro – cool decals are the perfect way to add some charm to his room without breaking a sweat with a paint brush. The stickers are made of adhesive fabric, so they are removable and reusable — I think he’ll have fun rearranging them. Love Mae also has some super adorable girls’ room decals (think ponies and woodland creatures and other charming scenes). They even have a circus scene. Ridiculously adorable!

Ahoy, Matey! | a Pirate Color Palette

Red Black Green and Leather Pirate Party Color Palette by DelphineShiver me timbers, this is a crazy snapshot, isn’t it? Just a couple of pirates hanging about the Charleston Harbor. Don’t you love the jewelry the tall pirate is sporting? And the tights? Trés chic. I think the red, leather, black, linen and malachite green palette would be so fun for a kids’ party color palette. A pirate party sounds like just the thing to ease into fall. Bonus: invite the parents and it’s a great excuse to whip up a batch of grog.

BTW, today is Talk Like a Pirate Day. Here is some advanced pirate lingo for those of you who want to know how to talk like a piratebung hole –  The stopper in food storage barrels is called the bung, and the hole is the bung hole.  For realsies.

Seafood Alley | Hand Lettered Vintage Signage in Charleston

Hand Lettered Seafood Alley Vintage Signage in Charleston South CarolinaThis amazing store front is around the corner from our downtown Charleston, SC studio. I haven’t had a chance (yet) to stop into Seafood Alley, but it claims to be “Fresh & Above Da’ Rest” … so I think a field trip is in order.

At the Pier | Color Palette

Charleston Harbor Color Palette Sea Green and Cement GrayHere’s another end of summer, faded beach green inspired color palette. My favorite, can’t you tell? This one is a photo my son snapped in the Charleston Harbor. I love the distressed, faded cement grays and sea green colors … with a teeny tiny pop of yellow.

Newport Yellow Stripes Red Stripes Anchor Personal Stationery Notecard by DelphineSummer is almost over, but I am still loving this fun and preppy Newport Stripes note card and calling card set from our personal stationery collection.
