I love the Saguaro Cactus and Prickly Pear Cactus illustrations my mom drew for us. Custom cocktail napkins and stir sticks are such a fun way to brighten up a bar, don’t you think? Much nicer than the boring white napkins and tiny black coffee stirrers that most catering companies provide, right?

Search for the Perfect Little White Dress

5 little white dresses for fallI’ve been invited to a wedding industry party with a “wear something white” dress code. Thus, my search for the perfect little WHITE dress. I need something that works for fall, must be comfortable, not too short, preferably with shoulders covered (I get chilly). And it has to be fashionable enough for the Big Apple. So far I’ve rounded up five little white dresses:

1. White dress with black embroidered bodice from Anthropologie  2. White belted tank dress from J. Crew   3. White long sleeve lace dress from Banana Republic  4. White and taupe striped long sleeve shift dress from H&M   5. White cap sleeve lace cocktail dress from H&M.

delphine is hiring graphic designers and design internsThe Delphine studio is growing & we’re looking for a few fabulous designers. Check out our Craigslist ads for a Graphic Designer, Studio Intern, and Product Styling & Photography Intern.

GENERAL NOTES ABOUT DELPHINE INTERNSHIPS:
Internships are unpaid and last approximately 10 weeks; scheduling is flexible (min 8 hours per week).
Interns will not have access to letterpress print shop.
Academic credit is available (depending upon specific institution’s requirements).

Please reference the Craigslist ads for application information and instructions for graphic design position and for both internships.

I prefer it with sans serif fonts like Gill Sans or Futura, but some clients have been ordering it lately with script fonts. The look is growing on me. What do you prefer? Font Geek Moment: Bombshell

Bombshell Pro font by Emily Lime Foundry Emily Lime’s newest release, Bombshell, is oh so pretty. It has lots of glyphs and special characters, so it truly does look like hand calligraphy, imperfections and all. The second I saw it I snatched it up for the Delphine library.

I was inspired by Alice in Wonderland when I designed it … a little bit whimsical, a little bit Victorian, a lot charming. This example is shown letterpressed in coral and noisette (nut brown) inks on bright white 100 percent cotton paper, with antique gold envelope liners.

08 August 2012 Desk Calendar by DelphineHello, August. Wait … how is it August already? Back to school?!? Already?!!!? John’s BIG birthday?!? Already?!?? What happened to July? Heck, what happened to June? Wish I could stop the clock and hit re-do on summer. It’s hard to think of anything I like better than a lazy summer day at the beach. Good thing summer stretches into fall here in South Carolina … I plan on packing in as many beach days as possible. I even bought a fresh bottle of sunscreen yesterday.
