Wish List for my Alter Ego

christmas wish list for erika's alter egoI’ve been so busy at the studio that I hardly noticed the entire Fall season swoosh by in a flash. We don’t have a television in our bedroom, so I watch a lot of HBOgo. I’m so bummed that the Bored to Death season is over already! Sidenote: I recently met a man who is a dead ringer for Ray’s character. True story … during an important, albeit impromptu, meeting he wandered away from the group to stretch. Someone asked him what he was doing stretching during an important meeting and he said, “I’m not stretching, I’m practicing my gay throw. If I just move your hand like this I can look gay, but I have to practice.” Ummmmm, no words.

Inspired by Jonathan on Bored to Death, here are some goodies my alter-ego would love: No. 1 Versace for H&M leather studded jacket   No. 2 Duotone glasses from Warby Parker   No. 3  Shiny & bright orange rain boots from Cole Haan   No. 4 Nearly neon ring from Pomeletto    No. 5 Skinny cords with zippers à la 1985 from Anthropologie   No. 6 Shiny green-blue “henley regatta” Butter nail polish    No. 7  A faux leopard trapper hat (J. Crew) to keep my ears warm.

Neat Shelves Make me Happy

Delphine Studio ShelvesAs part of our massive studio cleanup, we organized a few of our shelves. There is something about neatly stacked boxes and color coded books that makes me so so happy.

Veteran’s Day

Veteran's Day 11/11/11Today is Veteran’s Day. Thank you to all the men and women who have sacrificed for our country! And special props to all the parents, spouses & children who stay behind while their loved ones serve.

In our household there are two vets. My dad was in the Coast Guard during Vietnam era, and John was a Marine in the late 1990s. I asked both of them what they think the best way to honor veterans is, and they had a few suggestions. They both immediately thought of those currently serving, not just vets.

1. Support the Wounded Warrior Project, which aids injured service members. Please consider a donation.

2. The next time you’re doing errands pick up a few extra things to send to Any Marine. A package of socks, a fun magazine, some snacks, ziplock bags and some baby wipes … keep a box in your pantry and ship it off when it gets filled.

3. Clean out your closet and donate to the AmVets thrift stores.

4. Write a veteran a note to thank them for their service.

Oh, and PS, Happy Birthday, Marines!

New: Melon Chevrons

Delphine letterpress Chevron design in cantaloupeIt’s true, I can’t get enough chevrons. John thinks I’m slightly obsessed. I’m certain one of these days I’ll tire of the classic zig zag pattern, but for now I’m in love. Here’s a letterpress wedding invitation in cantaloupe melon and dull gold inks. Note the pretty edge painted place cards, too. Yummy color combo … one of my faves. (Just don’t call it peach and we can pretend it’s not part of the 80s revival).

Sign of the Holiday Season: our New 2012 Desktop Calendar!

Delphine 2012 Deskop Calendar: January 2012In my house, the sure sign that the holidays are around the corner is the release of the new Delphine 2012 desktop calendar.

Delphine desktop calendar 2012This year’s (well, I guess technically it’s “next” year’s) calendar is our most colorful Delphine calendar yet!

colorful desktop calendar patternsI sort of got carried away with color and pattern, so the back of each month is also full color. Major change from last year is the paper upgrade: it’s now printed on yummy 100 percent cotton paper.

I think it makes a super stocking stuffer. Yes, I just said that. But it’s true, not marketing speak! We sourced some awesome black metal easels this year. If you already have one of our old easels you can buy just the refill pages — we stuck with the same size (4.25in x 5.5in).

Feeling inspired, I ordered our personal family Christmas card today. Friends & family note that this year my goal is to actually get them in the mail before Valentine’s Day!

New: Holiday Cards by Delphine for Tiny Prints

Delphine for Tiny Prints Holiday Photo CardsI am thrilled to let you know the new Delphine for Tiny Prints holiday collection is live! I had a lot of fun designing holiday cards this year. It sounds crazy, but the process started back in March! Some of the holiday photo cards pictured above are my favorites. They all come in several colorways, but for holiday it is hard to get away from traditional red and green themes.

delphine holiday party invitations for tiny printsPart of the Delphine for Tiny Prints collection includes holiday cards, cookie party/cookie exchange cards, and matching address labels.

delphine merry kissmas holiday photo cardThis “Merry Kissmas” holiday photo card is my favorite from the new collection. It’s hard to see in the photo, but it opens up so you can write a nice message inside. Great for those of you who like to write missives ; ) You know who you are!

modern holiday photo cardsIf traditional red and green aren’t your thing, these “Be Merry” holiday photo cards in modern fun colors should be up your alley. I love diagonal stripes (and chevrons, though none of my chevron designs made the TP cut!).

Delphine Birth AnnouncementsPart of the holiday release, cute winter themed birth announcements … one cool thing about having a winter baby is you get to combine your holiday card and birth announcement in one card!

Please take a peek at the Delphine for Tiny Prints holiday collection and let me know what you think. I really did have fun with it. Those who know me well know that I’m not into Christmas music, but I do have a soft spot for holiday movies and because part of my job is working on Christmas cards nearly all year long, I get to watch Christmas movies as legitimate “inspiration” all year long. What’s your favorite holiday movie? I need to start a list for next year’s inspiration!
