I know, I know… it’s not even Halloween yet. But here’s a little peek at our new holiday photo card collection. It’s never too early to get them started! Each photo card design has a matching holiday party invitation design, cocktail napkins, stickers, and other goodies. (above: vertical version of PENNANT by Delphine).
At the moment, feeling Fall is wishful thinking (it was more than 100 degrees here yesterday!). But cozy plaid, yummy bourbon, and crisp apples from our backyard are getting me in the mood for the season.
Every single time I get out the camera, sweet little Ajax steps into the shot.
Check out this clever window display at Sigi’s Boutique (in La Jolla, Ca). The dress is made of fall leaves and feathers. It really stopped me in my tracks, and while I didn’t have time that day to go in the store, I’m itching to get back there so I can check out what they have inside.
I also noticed this cute painted detail on the storefront. You don’t see things like this in Southern California very often. Most everything here is shiny and new. Reminds me of home.
I do hope you’ll join us for our next North County Graphic Designer meetup.
We’ll be watching Lemonade and Scribble.08 on Wednesday, September 22nd. Lets meet at 6pm at Clients & Profits. We’ll begin the first film at 6:15. Many thanks to our friends Mark and Chris of Clients & Profits for hosting us again.
RSVP via email (or leave a comment here on in our LinkedIn Group, pretty please). Hope to see you there.
Now that New York Fashion Week is just about over, PANTONE has released its report of the top 10 colors for Spring 2011. One of my favorites is Coral Rose. I think Carolina Herrera showed it best:
I just love Coral Rose paired with gold. Super sexy, right? With this fabulous coral Carolina Herrera gown, the right fancy lipstick (by YSL) is mandatory, as is a classic cocktail (Cosmo, anyone?). I couldn’t resist the cheeky but glam koi handbay (by Judith Leiber). The whole orangy-gold look reminds me of vintage lustreware (bowl from my personal collection of goodies).
These lovely dresses are all from Monique Lhuillier‘s Spring 2011 collection. Wouldn’t they be perfect for a romantic garden wedding? I just love the muted color palette. Ladies, don’t be afraid of a little print. Too much and it becomes sort of matchy matchy tea cozy feeling, but a bit here and there is lovely. Lhuillier even showed a wedding gown with a floral print like the short bm dress above. You can see the gowns that Lhuillier sent down the catwalk at fashion week here.

Last night while the rest of the world was watching NFL football, I was catching up on work with the tv on in the background. Which led me to discover Project Runway alumns Austin and Santino’s show on Lifetime. Have you seen it? It’s fabulous! Full of inspiration and touching moments and silliness. It’s truly fun to watch. And good news: you can watch full episodes on MyLifetime.com! I really love episode 5, when they make a gorgeous wedding gown with a detachable train. I plan to go back and watch again while I don’t have a pile of work calling my name (hoping that happens some day).
By the way, check out the ampersand in the show logo. Clever, huh?
Isn’t this packaging lovely? I would buy this water just for the packaging. Really, I’d design an entire party around it. I can totally picture it at a baby shower, can’t you? It’s the perfect sweet pastel color palette.
