reminder: tag sale this weekend
Please swing by to see me this weekend at the tag sale. Assuming we have some goodies left over we’ll also be in the front yard on Sunday!

The purple/dull metallics and neutrals color palette is one my wedding invitation clients have been loving lately. I like to call it “Aubergine Dream.”

This infographic by David McCandless and Always With Honor (I found it via FastCompany) is wonderful. From this one chart you can learn about which colors mean in 10 different cultures. The chart shows 62 different emotions and states (including anger, fertility, success and truce). You can see a large version of it on the Information is Beautiful website. Fascinating stuff, and super useful to graphic designers. The image is on the cover of the new Information is Beautiful book … on my wishlist in case you’re looking to stock my shelves.

We have soooo many goodies packaged up for the tag sale. If you love letterpress, stationery, paper, and love digging for treasure, please swing by our tag sale this weekend. We’ve cleared out our warehouse, organized the studio, and unearthed a lot of fabulous goodies for sale.
While we were at it, we decided to Spring Clean the house, and found lots of other amazing treasures (some we kept, like a photo of my great great grandfather), some we’re putting up for sale (vintage skis… with bamboo poles!) We live in a four-generation household, so we have everything from baby booties to granny slippers for sale! Please leave a message here with your email and I’ll give you directions (or email me directly erika [at] delphinepress [dot] com.

Please check out our new Delphine webites. We’ve redesigned the homepage and added a brand new Save The Date section with 15 new designs! What do you think? Please also let me know if you find any bugs/broken links etc etc. Many thanks! The Party Goodies section will be up next week, along with a couple of new invitation designs. (And I know what you’re thinking, and no, we never sleep).

Clear your calendar, borrow a truck, empty your piggy bank … it’s time for the famous annual sale at SoLo. The merchants are Spring cleaning their warehouses & are sure to unearth many a treasure.
Friday, April 23 & Saturday, April 24: 10am – 6pm | Sunday, April 25: 11am – 5pm

I love technology. I didn’t say I was good at it, and certainly don’t qualify as an early adopter (just yesterday, with the help of a friend, I set up the Delphine Facebook page) … but I heart the new Stickybits app and can’t wait to try it. The concept is brilliant, and the branding on the Stickybits website is adorable, to boot.

Just a reminder … the North Couny Graphic Design Meetup is tomorrow morning. See here for details.

I love seeing how clients make our designs their own. Above: two versions of Pacific Beach Bloom save the date design. Coming very soon … 15 new save the date designs, plus some other fun party goodies.

Looking for non-traditional, non-cheesy, non-crazy expensive wedding photography? Will Keeler is your guy. He’s LA based, but don’t fret if you don’t live in Lalaland: he does travel outside of Southern California. His style is raw & real, yet maintains the romance of the Big Day. Love it.

Have you seen C magazine‘s new wedding issue? It’s soooo pretty. Hope they decide to do another issue soon.

The studio is sloooooowly coming together. I feel like the snail (complete with scary monster looming over my shoulder).

See this giant shelving unit? John built it with his own hands. It used to be in our warehouse. I asked him to paint it citron green before moving it into the studio. Believe it or not, that’s only about half of the envelopes we keep in stock!

How did you spend your morning? I spent mine dealing with Ajax, our 1 year old cat. He climbed the tallest tree in the yard, all the way to the top.

He was crying and couldn’t get down. Our giant ladder was too short, so we flagged down a team of tree trimmers in the neighborhood, who came to the rescue. Hidalgo is our new hero.

These are the cute and sneaky culprits who chased Ajax up the tree.

I’m happy announce the third North County [San Diego] Graphic Design meet up.
Here’s the scoop:
Join us Wednesday, April 21, 2010
8 am – 9 am at Adam Rowe’s house
Kindly RSVP to erika [at] delphinepress [dot] com (or leave a comment below) and I’ll respond with Adam’s address.
Kick off the day on a positive note with other North County graphic designers! No agenda, just say hello and get to know each other and share some great coffee. If you’re really not a morning person or are just plain cranky until the caffeine kicks in [ahem... me], then just “nod” and take time to adjust to the morning sunshine! We look forward to seeing you! All creatives welcome.
This month we’ll discuss all types of portfolios: digital, print, online.
If you plan to come and would like a banner for your blog or website please let me know. If you’d like to be on the email list to be notified of future events please email erika [at] delphinepress [dot] com. Thanks! Also, we have set up a LinkedIn group: North County (San Diego) Graphic Designers.
Many thanks to Kathy McGraw for helping organize everything, and for the super cute artwork. Pssst…. it’s Kathy’s bday on April 21, so come ready to enjoy some bday cake for breakfast.
