the green life: reusable snack bags

Nothing makes me feel more like a Mom than making school lunches for my son. Every time I reach for a plastic baggie I cringe a little, which is why I am putting these Plum Creek reusable snack bags on my wish list. They’re made of 100 percent organic cotton twill and are washable. What a great idea! You can find them here on Abe’s Market (which, by the way, has the cutest logo ever!).

new at delphine: digitally printed invitations

I’m so excited to announce that we now offer all of our Delphine wedding invitation designs digitally printed! We chose a thick 100 percent post consumer waste recycled stock as our house stock and we love how it prints! One of the best things about digital (besides the lower prices) is the ability to flood the background of a card with a solid color (like the folded note card in the photo above). You can play with the options on our here.

party idea: photo booth

Wedding season for “the industry” starts right about now … this is the time of year when all the magazines have their launch parties and all the wedding industry peeps gather together in celebration and anticipation of a new year. Last night I partied with some friends at The Knot‘s party. Left to right: me (Erika), Joy (Oh Joy), Kelley (Pink Dot Press), me again, John (Delphine), Melissa (Bergamot Spa), Sara (Anthropologie). One of the highlights of the evening was these super fun Shutterbooth photo booths. They would be sooooo much fun to have at a wedding, especially if you provided a basket full of dress up props to half-drunken guests.

oh, vera

How does Vera Wang do it? She is always on top of the latest trends (I think SHE is driving the trends). I am simply in awe of this gorgeous “delicately tinted pale nude tissue organza gown with asymmetrically draped bias-tiered origami skirt, back bows and nude grosgrain bow at natural waist.” (description from Elegant Bride Fall 2009 issue, where I first spotted the gown). Stunning! The photo in Elegant Bride magazine is even more amazing looking than this view (you can see the waist detail a bit better in the magazine).

in the press: elegant bride

Thanks, Elegant Bride, for featuring our signature AVA design in the Fall 2009 issue. The peach and cream color combo is so glamourous. Sort of old-fashioned and romantic, yet fresh and modern. Lovely! If you go with this color combo for your wedding I don’t think you’ll look back at photos in 25 years and think “aaaack!”

design star: paul smith

I have a design crush on Paul Smith. Love, love, love his swirly retro fun stripe designs. Please add this evian bottle to my wish list (I spotted it on the dieline … check out their post to see a cool video of Paul Smith talking about the bottle design).

Also on my wish list: Smith’s book “You Can Find Inspiration in Everything.” I first spotted it at the deYoung Museum and I should have bought it, because it looks like it’s sold out online and I still really want it. (I’m pouting right now as I think about it).

The purse is wonderful, isn’t it? One of the biggest perks of living in a multi-generational household, as I do, is the ability to, uh, “borrow” accessories from my impossibly chic mother. She has a bag similar to this one (but Mom’s is even cooler).

new on etsy: limited edition bunny note cards

Over the weekend I updated the delphineSTUDIO etsy shop, which had been sadly neglected for the past few months. I added some limited edition woodland note cards, like this bunny rabbit “what’s up” note card set. I also finally took some better photos of our initials note cards, and those will be added to our website and our Etsy shop soon (promise).

wish list: party jewels

All of a sudden my social calendar is full of cocktail parties! Yay! But what to wear??? On my wish list now: these three lovely party jewels. The Banana Republic multi-strand silver necklace with a leaf detail would be a great layering piece (and it’s on sale!). You can’t beat Forever21′s awesome prices. This cool twisted necklace is only $11 and the darling turquoise bead chandelier earrings are even less!

color palette: pantone’s spring 2010 report

Pink Champagne is my favorite color from Pantone’s Spring 2010 report. Each fashion week, the peeps at Pantone head to the shows to report back on what they see as the color trends for the upcoming season. (Hello, fun job!) I think they’re right on, here, with the coral, pink champagne and light brown. I think the other colors are a little too bright … I had envisioned turquoise, but paler, like water, and yellow, but lighter like lemon chiffon. But what do I know? I sit in my studio all day …

You can read Pantone’s entire report here. And check out Erin Fetherson‘s website. She has some dreamy looks!

in the press: southern weddings blog

I was so happy to see our Delphine Rococo place cards in this post on Southern Weddings today. I love seeing how brides incorporate our work into their Big Day. I really like the wood seating card holder that they’ve used to hold the card. You can find it here in GoodGuest’s Etsy shop.

oh so chic: green feather hair clip

Isn’t this green feather hair clip by Lucia Bella gorgeous? She says her designs are inspired by vintage glam, couture, and rock & roll. I can see all three here for sure! Trés chic for a rehearsal dinner outfit or a glamourous bride. It might be too much for a gaggle of bridesmaids to have the exact same clip, but if they had similar ones, perhaps chosen to complement their hair color (and the dresses, of course)  … how great would that be? Swoon.
