wish list: suede shoes

I spotted these mustard yellow ruffly suede pumps in the J. Crew catalog. I love yellow shoes and already have a few pair of yellow suede flats. I think yellow shoes look great with jeans. I wore them all fall last year. The suede pumps on the left from Newport News are also darling (and budget friendly). I especially like the grey ones.

in the kitchen: cupcakes

When I was in San Francisco a few weeks ago a friend gave me Martha Stewart’s newest book: Cupcakes. A quick trip to the market and a slight takeover of my cousin’s kitchen, and I was making Triple Citrus Cupcakes. Martha has a video on her website here. They were fun to make, really pretty, and quite yummy (though quite heavy … halfway through the recipe I realized that I was essentially making a pound cake batter).

stuff i like: jelly jar wine

I’ll admit that I was first drawn to Jelly Jar Old Vine Zinfandel by the understated, letterpressed label. Delicious! It tasted warm and earthy to me, like a walk through the forest. It was the perfect wine to savor while porch sitting in the Sierras with my family. I’m a fan. Now to find it in Southern Callifornia … something tells me it will also be the perfect wine for watching the sun set over Moonlight Beach.
